Extreme Weather in Mumbai Sparks Reactions as Heavy Rain & Dust Storm Stir Concerns
Mumbai, India — Residents of Mumbai and its suburbs were put on high alert following a weather warning issued for the next 2–3 hours.
Reports indicate high wind speeds and intense rainfall moving toward the Central and Western railway lines, affecting areas such as Mulund, Thane, Ghatkopar, Dadar, Santacruz, Borivali, Andheri, and Bandra.
The alert, shared by weather tracker @rushikesh_agre_, urged citizens to remain indoors and stay cautious. Although the dust storm has reportedly moved westward and is easing in parts like Thane and Kalyan, its impact is still being felt across central Mumbai.
This sudden weather activity triggered mixed reactions across social media.
Many users expressed discomfort due to the gusty winds and thick dust in the air. One user, @jacobsunil, humorously tweeted, "Why does the wind keep coming and going every 30–45 minutes? Is Rajnikanth in town with an upset stomach?"
Meanwhile, some areas saw calm and sunny skies. "@SandeepAr0rA shared, “It’s clear skies and sunny here in Ghatkopar and Vikhroli.”
Weather enthusiast @ThatteAdvait explained that storm clouds drifted westward but fizzled out over Mumbai due to a lack of atmospheric fuel needed to sustain rain formation.
Still, others reported visual effects of the storm, with @eshaniverma809 tweeting, “Damn, it looks like fog,” pointing to reduced visibility likely caused by dust and humidity.
Weather experts anticipate the storm will weaken soon. Until then, residents are advised to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions stabilize.
